Aircraft Flight Path Generation
AAI 103
In this course you’ll master a plethora of techniques for deriving, verying, computing, estimating, combining, validating, and generating aircraft flight paths using alternate FDR/QAR parameters. You’ll be provided with actual industry cases and data where the accuracy of ‘latitude/longitude’ failed or was not recorded, so that you can calculate the aircraft position from scratch. While there is no course pre-requisite, we highly recommend that you review your algebra, geometry, trigonometry, and calculus prior to attendance.
Enhanced Aircraft Positional Support for Investigations!
Flexibility
The option to apply various flight path algorithms to determine best fit.
Accuracy
Improve positional accuracy by fine tuning recorded data points.
Recovery
Ability to continue the investigation when lat/long is inaccurate or missing.
Aircraft X drifted off course during departure from Honk Kong. Based on ATC radar data, the aircraft experienced a lateral course deviation of 3 NM during the standard instrument departure procedure. However when alternate parameters from the FDR were used to derive and compute the aircraft route and position, it was discovered that the aircraft was only 1.3 NM off course. In the end it was discovered that the ATC radar data equipment was out of calibration.
